The American Psychological Association (APA) recently hosted a webinar with Dr. Vonetta Dotson, a neuropsychologist at Georgia State University who studies positive and negative modifiers of brain health in older adults.
During the webinar, Dr. Dotson provided an in-depth overview of her new book, “Keep Your Wits About You: the Science of Brain Maintenance as You Age,” and led a discussion on promoting brain health through physical activity, cognitive stimulation, social engagement, a heart-healthy diet, and adequate sleep.
She emphasized the importance of taking proactive and preventive measures for both physical and mental health, and addressed questions relating to physical activity, plant-based diets, cognitive training, and the role of Omega-3 acids in brain health.
This book will surely be of interest to gerontologists, clinical psychologists, caregivers, or older individuals interested in learning about the science behind brain health and behavioral strategies for improving it. It is available on Amazon.com.
